Silly Sound Attendence: Building Phonemic Awareness
I found this recipe on the Balanced Literacy Diet website <http://www.oise.utoronto.ca/balancedliteracydiet/Recipe/00171/> (See youtube video clip below). I appreciate this hotspot due to the minimal work it would take to incorporate into your daily routine. Throughout my work in Early Childhood Education, I noticed that children would easily experiment with the word sounds in their names. I think that using this sort of activity, is a great introduction for exploring phonemic awareness. I appreciate how this teacher has made name experimenting a silly/fun activity (and not insulting or offensive).
