Singing up a Storm
I have used a version of this recipe with kindergarten children, however I found some great examples of it from the Scholastic website (http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/top-teaching/2012/12/using-music-improve-reading-fluency#.UNKhun4EiyF.pinterest) (Click on brown link below for an example). I like this activity because it involves music and literacy together in a real-world context as well as fostering a motivation for literacy. This activity can be tailored to meet the musical interests/preferences of your learners.

This activity could be used to improve reading fluency in a fun way. Through music, children can use printed lyrics to read and sing with fluency. You could give students their own song books with lyrics (see photo 2) or you could use lyrics off of Youtube (see photo 3).
